X Komms® ' Inbound Non-Geographic Numbers (NGN)

A growing number or organisations now use NGN numbers, which are generally considered as wholly acceptable alternatives to standard STD coded numbers.

You dial the various numbers, and they ring at the appropriate place.

The appropriate place is the telephone line(s) that the NGN terminates on, and is called the 'termination number'. It can be virtually any telephone number, landline or mobile number.

The following list illustrates the various categories.

0800/0808 - 'Free phone'

Callers don't pay for the call; the party being called incurs the charge. Research suggests this is a powerful marketing option with a resultant 50-300% increase in calls.

0845 - 'Local Call'

Callers pay for a local rate call wherever the call is terminated, and is used to provide an organisation with the feel of being a local company. A small revenue is also generated.

0870 - 'National Rate'

Generates a national presence for an organisation, as well as a useful revenue stream. (X X Komms® uses 0870 112 9566.the last 4 digits spell 'XKOM' on your handset).

0871 - 'Special Rate'

Used for income generation by the owner, often where 09XXX premium rates numbers are considered excessive e.g. expertise and advice lines either live or pre-recorded.

Any of the above numbers can be chosen to have easily remembered digits within them, making that NGN number instantly recognisable.

Over laying these numbers, Intelligent Routing Plans (IRP) can be implemented. IRPs allow calls made to these numbers to be answered in ways which maximise the effectiveness of the company's resources, the professionalism of the caller's experience, and overall ensures that calls are not missed but are dealt with in the most appropriate way, whatever the day, time of call, and location of the caller.

The content and operation is controlled by ICSTIS and costs a caller typically 60p- several pounds per minute to call. Often used for technical support/advice/specialist information/adult content.
